Well, as some of you know, my son and I have been making very slow progress on building a D/SR. It's turned into a rather futile mission. "In my day", you could build a competitive D/SR for under $10,000. Today, it takes $70,000 to keep up with Stohr's, West's and Radicals. They are as fast as LMP cars now with only 1,000cc engines on tight tracks like Mid-Ohio. So, we've been looking for 'the alternative'.

After a year the 'alternative' will be loaded onto a truck/trailer in Las Vegas tomorrow! ! !

An Air Force Colonel being deployed to Korea for 3 years and his car(s) are in great shape. Only catch was, he made the post on the APEXSPEED.COM forum insisting on an instant sale of both and a pickup within 15 days!!! Ouch, tight but too good a deal to pass up.

No, won't be a father son on track at the same time. We will probably have to sell one to recover some cash and share (if he will let me, the one).

So here they are in the best pics I have so far. Are you in the market for one? Make you a very good deal

Not that I think I even have a chance of having enough cash, but which one is for sale, and how much were you wanting?

Well the cars are here :) One in the truck and one on a trailer.

Tom will appreciate this. Jeff left on Wednesday night to fly down to Vegas. As 'the father' I was expecting (hoping) he would get back Saturday night or maybe early Sunday morning. But NOooo. He rolled out of Vegas at 12:45 on Thursday and rolled up to his garage here on Friday at 4:15!! Dang kids any way!

It's always scary buying any race car based upon pictures and not the eyeball. But these two are in just as good a shape as the pictures. Mechanicals all look good and the body work on both have very, very minor hazing just from age and vibration in a few places. The black one is sitting 4 feet behind me.

AFTER Jeff arrived in Las Vegas, I posted the photos on Apexspeed, the FC forum to try and find out about the cars history. There are some big guns on there that grab up cars like this for spares, or to prep out and resell. But they all ignored these initially because the price was just WAY TOO GOOD and they figured the cars were trashed. They weren't :) :) :) And now they are kicking themselves in the back side! We were very, very lucky. The Air Force officer just wanted them gone before his Korean deployment. Super nice guy at that.

We need to go through some basics such as fuel line, coolent and oil before cranking over. Check fire bottles, replace belts (out dated) and charge the battery's. Clutch and gas pedal are out of the red one as it was being converted to hand controls for a paraplegic. But Jeff has almost completed that task over the weekend LOL.

As far as selling one goes, that's still the plan. Not sure which one. But it won't be TOTALLY a decision based upon 'the best' in terms of mechanicals. Seems Jeff fits one better then the other and we are trying to figure out why. Hmmm, itentical chassis for sure but the cockpits are set up slightly different. Haven't had time to sort that out yet.

I think we'll need some Texasspeedracing.com decals too :)

Well, the red one is going on its first outing toward the end to next month. Both cars are in really good condition but the red one has some advantages.

Black was raced by the previous owner while Red was purchased for 'spares'. However, Red suffered a major T-bone wreck at Mid-Ohio just beyond the Keyhole corner a few years ago. It was rebuilt by a fellow named Keith Averill who is the U.S. expert on these cars. It's in really good shape now. We have a Dixon built engine in Red which probably has lower racing miles on it then the Elite built engine in the Black one. Both engines sound good so we shall see.

Oh yes, lol. Black is also sitting in my garage behind me here. Need to rebuild the clutch slave cylinder. NO, it ain't your typical slave. It's actually built into and part of the dry sump reservoir so it's a really tricky job. Another reason why Red is first on track.
