Well the cars are here

One in the truck and one on a trailer.
Tom will appreciate this. Jeff left on Wednesday night to fly down to Vegas. As 'the father' I was expecting (hoping) he would get back Saturday night or maybe early Sunday morning. But NOooo. He rolled out of Vegas at 12:45 on Thursday and rolled up to his garage here on Friday at 4:15!! Dang kids any way!
It's always scary buying any race car based upon pictures and not the eyeball. But these two are in just as good a shape as the pictures. Mechanicals all look good and the body work on both have very, very minor hazing just from age and vibration in a few places. The black one is sitting 4 feet behind me.
AFTER Jeff arrived in Las Vegas, I posted the photos on Apexspeed, the FC forum to try and find out about the cars history. There are some big guns on there that grab up cars like this for spares, or to prep out and resell. But they all ignored these initially because the price was just WAY TOO GOOD and they figured the cars were trashed. They weren't

And now they are kicking themselves in the back side! We were very, very lucky. The Air Force officer just wanted them gone before his Korean deployment. Super nice guy at that.
We need to go through some basics such as fuel line, coolent and oil before cranking over. Check fire bottles, replace belts (out dated) and charge the battery's. Clutch and gas pedal are out of the red one as it was being converted to hand controls for a paraplegic. But Jeff has almost completed that task over the weekend LOL.
As far as selling one goes, that's still the plan. Not sure which one. But it won't be TOTALLY a decision based upon 'the best' in terms of mechanicals. Seems Jeff fits one better then the other and we are trying to figure out why. Hmmm, itentical chassis for sure but the cockpits are set up slightly different. Haven't had time to sort that out yet.
I think we'll need some Texasspeedracing.com decals too
